Opportunity Description

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Production Planner to manage the development of planning processes and methods, influence and interact with cross-functional stakeholders and partners, and execute tactical planning duties including work order release, driving customer fulfillment performance, and understanding and contributing to forecasting process.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and follow up on production schedules to meet Work Order due dates
  • Determine and advise sales of manufacturing lead times
  • Facilitate order expediting when required
  • Regulate workflow to maximize efficiency and capacity utilization
  • Define logical material flow and staging areas, using mechanisms such as Kanbans, pull signals, and optimal replenishment quantities
  • Conduct effective capacity planning to generate lead times and specific order commit dates, participating in quarterly S&OP Forecast assessment
  • Report on actual production
  • Coordinate flow of material from Raw to shipping finished product
  • Reviews routers for accuracy on an opportunistic basis and advises manufacturing engineering of potential issues
  • Ensures work order transactions are correct and complete, as well as closes work orders on an appropriate and timely basis
  • Resolves work order errors and discrepancies
  • Trains operators and monitors that correct work order and inventory transactions are performed
  • Review and develop “raw material” requirements based on firm orders and forecasts
  • Operations representative for cycle count program

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) preferred

Experience & Skills Required

  • Five or more years related experience and/or training in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of MRP methodology and typical ERP functionality
  • Understanding of a variety of fundamental scheduling methods, based on product routing and attributes, forecasts, lead times, and customer fulfillment expectations
  • Understanding of capacity planning, at various levels of aggregation: cell/line, department, facility, etc. 
  • Ability to lead teams through problem solving process: problem identification, description, solving development & implementation and monitor 
  • Ability to coordinate activities between departments and groups 
  • Communicate complex ideas effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Computer skills Excel, Access and automated production, inventory control, and business systems
  • Ability to apply lean principles to planning processes and associated manufacturing physical layout
