Opportunity Description

Production Supervisor (Night Shift) needed for a position in Secaucus, NJ

The Production Supervisor leads the day to day production effort. This includes the Filling lines, (bottles, tubes, packets, jars) as well as the final packaging and labeling of all products. Production Supervisor is responsible for the movement of packaged product away from the lines and ensures that line personnel is supplied with raw materials (Packaging supplies and blended product from the Batching department) to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. Exercise constant awareness of inventory of packaging supplies to prevent the shutdown of a production line.  

Job Duties

  • Works with the Vice President of Manufacturing to meet production goals.
  • Reviews non-OTC (cosmetic) batch records to ensure they are accurate and complete. 
  • Perform specific calculations required in the Production department such as packaging yield.
  • Keeps track of waste/scrap generated by equipment and makes suggestions to reduce/improve.
  • Sets goals for performance and deadlines in a way that complies with the company’s plans and vision.
  • Organize the daily workflow on the production floor and ensures employees understand duties and related tasks.
  • Monitors employee productivity providing constructive feedback and coaching where needed. 
  • Ensures packaging lines are cleaned regularly and operated according to established written procedures. 
  • Able to troubleshoot production processes to locate potential areas of concern and offer suggestions.  

Education

  • High school graduate required, Associate degree or some college a plus.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Must be fluent in English, bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
  • Previous experience supervising in a fast-paced production environment.  
  • 3 - 4 years prior experience working in an ‘FDA-regulated’ manufacturing environment desirable.
  • Able to interface with and direct the daily work output of a diverse workforce.
  • General knowledge of Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Capable of shifting priorities/schedules to meet ever-changing product demands.
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with high-speed packaging equipment (bottles/tubes/jars).
  • Able to assess positive or negative effects of various adjustments and settings on packaging equipment.
  • Able to move quickly and decisively in situations when equipment fails to minimize downtime.
  • Computer literacy with competency in WORD and to some extent Excel.
  • Able to learn other software packages (such as ‘Sage’) as required by the job.
