Opportunity Description

Our client, an award-winning developer of learning solutions for the life sciences industry, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager who can play a critical role in the efficient day-to-day operations of the business. The ideal candidate must possess the knowledge and skills as described below, including a broad understanding of a services-based business and a financial background. This position reports directly to the owners of the company and involves corporate and internal management reporting for the company, reviewing all corporate contracts including customer contracts, vendor agreements, partnering agreements and office agreements. Responsibilities also include providing Business Development assistance as required: project budgeting; proposal and SOW review and assistance with RFPs. In addition, overseeing and coordinating the company’s benefits administration, maintaining banking relationships and providing general office/administrative support as needed are part of this role.The ideal candidate must be a proficient self-starter who takes ownership of his/her work. Meeting deadlines, prioritizing workload, and efficiently managing time are required skills for this position. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, including critical thinking, are a must, as is the ability to work in an open, friendly environment.

Education

Degree in accounting and public accounting experience (CPA or Finance degree preferred)

Experience & Skills Required

  • 10 years general accounting including AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger, Tax, Benefits Administration
  • Keen attention to detail
  • 10+ years of controllership or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and follow-through skills
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines
  • Technology savvy (QuickBooks, Fathom, Bill.com, MS Excel, MS Word, etc.)
  • Understanding of % complete accounting, general tax knowledge (corporate tax/sales, tax/personal tax, payroll, 401k, §125 plans
  • Flexibility and confidence to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting
  • Experience in negotiating terms and conditions including with banks, suppliers, customers, joint ventures, etc.
  • Problem solving and analysis
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a group
  • This is an in-office position (minimum three days a week) at the company’s headquarters in New Jersey.
