Opportunity Description

The Sr. telecommunication engineer designs, develops, maintains, and enhances telecommunication networks, systems, and equipment; analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement.  Assists in the development of solutions that meet the business requirements of the Medical Center; works with MIS on the installation of new circuits. The positions report to the Director of Telecommunications.

Job Duties

REQUIRED LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

3.           Staff Development: Ensures staff receives mandated in-servicing in Safety, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Customer Service, Infection Control, and any other in-service that may apply.

4. Problem-Solving: Recommendations and decision-making reflect strong analytical skills and focus on quality, cost containment, and the impact of change on other departments.

Education

Technical School graduate in Electronics/Telecommunications Technician or equivalent

Experience & Skills Required

Understands how telecommunications equipment and services work and are equipped to handle disruptions of service. 

Handles disruptions in service and develops solutions to deal with those problems

Works with members of the IS Department to plan, install and implement voice and data communication.

Performs on-site surveys of existing telephone systems and in initiating surveys advising on appropriate equipment, costs, and locations

Investigates/troubleshoot complaints and remediate or initiate corrective action orders to telephone and utility vendors.
