Opportunity Description
Purchasing Agent plans and verifies demand need, prepares, and forwards purchase orders as well as verifies timely receipt of purchased items to support all company operations. Provide purchasing plans to the Purchasing and Materials Manager in purchasing all required materials and finished parts from domestic and international suppliers to support manufacturing.

Job Duties
- Track inventory and needs per department inventory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of material specifications and ability to discuss schematics with vendors.
- Sales order fulfillment and monitoring, and determination of purchase quantity cost and needs.
- Interact with manufacturing and production planning to ensure the necessary materials are received when needed to support production.
- Manage quote requests and purchase orders using MRP system as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Work closely with engineering to propose alternative items and cost savings
- Strong vendor knowledge and researching required.
- Work with various departments in addition to suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings, maximize on time delivery, minimize inventory.
- Help resolve quality issues between the company and vendor.
- Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships; fully understand supplier capabilities and limitations.
- Maintain ERP records including items purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and performance.
- Must have the ability to manage delivery gaps and expedite needed material to minimize supply interruptions.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred but not required
Experience & Skills Required
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate and influence customers
- Strong vendor relations skills
- Proficient data entry in an ERP system
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
- Experience with ERP Systems required (MS365)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics preferred
