Opportunity Description
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resource strategies and initiatives that are aligned with the overall business strategy. Provides counsel to managers and employees as to Human Resources policies and procedures and employee relations. Manages the entire recruitment and selection process. Onboards and offboards all employees. Oversees 401k as well as all benefit programs for multiple states in the US. This role plays a pivotal role in the company’s core focus to create safer and more productive communities through hiring, promoting, and maintaining a skilled work force that believes in the company’s mission and are dedicated to the Company and culture.This position reports to General Manager / Vice President w/ dotted line to company owners. Ensure that the managers are consistent across the company in applying policies regarding equal employment opportunities, evaluations, compensation, and employee benefits.
Job Duties
- Ensures that policies outlined in the company handbook comply with federal and state law.
- Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends.
- Actively recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions. Effectively utilizes the Paycom platform used by the company for these purposes. Become the Paycom HR module expert.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Own the onboarding process and engage the department managers to collaborate with you in creating specific onboarding materials for key common positions in the company.
- Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and 401K plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, probationary period reviews, terminations, promotions, annual performance review, safety, and sexual harassment, etc.
- Advises management and actively participates in appropriate resolution for employee relations issues.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Administers benefits programs such as health and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance. This includes sharing ownership of the vendor relationships with the vendors that provide these services.
- Coordinates with training & safety manager and assists, when necessary, in investigations of accidents and/or incidents.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, if necessary, conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Maintains the employee recognition program. Work with managers to recognize employees for outstanding performance.
- Creates, Conducts, and plans engagement surveys and measures employee moral on an annual basis. Holds focus group meetings with key stakeholders identified to represent all company departments.
- Develops moral improvement and maintenance plan based on survey and focus group results.
- Ensures the company is following best practices to promote a safe and productive work environment.
